spctclr vws

Welcome to the spctclr vws website, where you can find information about the month-long contemporary art exhibition that featured over sixty artists from around the nation. By taking advantage of vacant real estate space in Manhattan, spctclr vws provided artists with an opportunity to collaborate, conceptualize, perform, experiment and much more.

Building on the history of alternative spaces, spctclr vws brought art and real estate development together and as a result, gave both greater exposure. The exhibition was covered in publications including the New York Times and over 600 people attended the opening event at One Brooklyn Bridge Park; approximately a thousand visitors attended the month-long exhibition.

The show highlights included a padded cell installation, kabuki theater, uprooted juniper trees, architectural space

interruptions, an ear trumpet, a self-sustaining ecosystem, and a menagerie of animals.

The show was the brainchild of Mary Mihelic who holds an MFA from Parsons the New School for Design. This is the third time Mary Mihelic has found alternative space and curated shows in New York. This time, Stribling Marketing Associates worked with Mihelic to provide space at One Brooklyn Bridge Park for spctclr vws.  Mihelic, also gave artists 100% of the sales commission. spctclr_vws_images.html
